HI! I am Brian van der Laan.

After studying electronics in the early 90s, I entered the process automation industry as a technician for SA Automation in Johannesburg, dealing mainly with weighing/batching/bagging systems.

I resigned from SA Automation in 1996, and after 3 years traveling in the UK and Europe, returned to South Africa in 1999 and started as a technician with Control Solutions, predominantly in the mining industry, designing and manufacturing monitoring and data recording systems for mine winders and in-motion rail weighing systems.

I resigned from Control Solutions after 17 years in 2017 and moved down to the Western Cape to pursue an offgrid lifestyle on a small farm. After self building a house, entered the construction industry, doing mostly small house renovations and alterations.

A passion for renewable and alternative energy sources has led me to a shift into the solar industry and setting up Clean Earth Energy. I have completed a solar system design and installation course at the Green Solar Academy in order to further my knowledge in the field. I have obtained my Solar PV Green Card certifying that I am a qualified Solar Installer
